So no confirmed news regarding Farscape‘s future but some interesting information. Regarding why no Farscape on Netflix — they low balled the fees with is what Avenging Angel (old Scapers may remember her from the Ultimate Farscape board). It will be on iTunes soon however. He is thinking the time is right for a show with long arcs, making a format different than a film maybe the way to go. I found it interesting that he didn’t mention funding or distribution hurdles. He affirmed that Farscape has many stories to tell.
More shots from that fun panel ! Ben was so engaged despite all that was going on. Farscape remains near to his heart. Youtube has several con videos posted that are great fun to watch! Speacial thanks to Tarina for these photos!

As Dragon Con approaches I am remembering Ben’s last visit there. It was a very sad time in his life as his longtime manager and friend was nearing death from cancer. Hank convinced Ben to come to the con and Ben did. I doubt the audience had any idea on Monday that Ben had lost this friend and mentor during the night. The rest of the SG1 cast did and it was touching to see various people touch his shoulder as they took their seats. Ben only did one Farscape panel and I was lucky enough to be the “moderator”. The crowd for the panel kept growing beforehand and they had to put us in a bigger room which is always great. The photo above is of Ben getting an unsuspecting Raelee Hill to ask the crowd for a “Hell Yeah” ๐ There were some great questions and I think Ben’s favorite was What would John have done if there had been 2 Aeryns instead of 2 Johns? He got a smile and a twinkle as he thought about that one!
I am packing for my 10th Dragon Con. My first was 2009 — the photo above was from that con. Visit Wormhole Riders for some great Farscape coverage, that is where I snurched this from! I admit I went as an SDCC snob and was totally captivated! A couple of years later guest Wil Wheaton summed it up —San Diego Comic Con has lost it’s soul and Dragon Con found it. I ran into a few Scapers at a SG1 panel the first evening that Ben was a guest on. The next day I was waiting for the Farscape panel and not sure where to wait and I noticed two young women with Farscape shirts so I approached and was welcomed! They took me under their wing and have been my go to sources for all things DC ever since! Their circle which was wide including Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Who fans was also welcoming. Whenever I hear the younger generations trashed I think of my con experiences and most especially these two. Fandom allows all ages to overcome generational differences in favor of plot favorite differences. I think of my own daughters who disdained cons as they got older until they realized people were jealous of their childhood experiences and now as adults have sat in the bar at cons and discussed DC vs Marvel with strangers of all ages. I still think Ben to be one of the best con guests out there and love watching him surprise and charm those who have not seen him before and make fans out of them.
Sooo Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 is on hold as they search for a director. Principle cast arrived in Atlanta and have been told they can pursue other projects at this time. My wish list is longtime Gunn fan, novice director (Bad Kids of Crestview Academy) and self proclaimed scifi geek Ben ๐
I am continuing to ponder Henson’s strange comment about the creators of Farscape being the hold up in us getting more Farscape. I read a couple of laughable explanations like they were compiling a “bible”. I am guessing they are debating direction. A script from Justin Monjo focusing on John and Aeryn’s son as an older teen on the run/in jeopardy exists and is in Henson’s hands. Granted our original team could be worked into this story as well. I would be ok with this if Moya’s original crew was the main focus and have either a film or limited series hand off to the next generation. Maybe he will reveal something next week at Dragon Con.
Special thanks to Scaper Tina from the Facebook farscapenow page for this flashback to 2004!
Den of Geek UK has a new interview with Brian Henson. It is a bit murky to me regarding Farscape‘s future. He desires it yet says it is up to him and the producers and nothing the fans can do. Read and draw your own conclusions. It makes the recent actions by Henson regarding Farscape even more curious to me. I do not think we should decrease our efforts because Farscape deserves to be talked about and people are still discovering it because a friend or friend of a friend somewhere mentions it.
Planning on attending this? Stay tuned for venue announcement as well as other guests ! Both in the works!! Can’t attend because this is too far? Contact Creation Entertainment in the US and tell them you want a 20th Anniversary Farscape con!! Events cost money so be realistic and tell the biggest con in your area that you want Farscape guests!!
— thanks to PKGrl for the awesome photo and being my roomie that weekend!
As we continue to hope for many 20th Anniversary Cons all around so more people will be able to attend, I revisited a favorite youtube channel — Fan Moguls. It is run by a Scaper and features several video interviews with fans that are short , fun watches. She also has this one from Ben :
