Ben Browder Network posted a great scoop today! Ben had a brief appearance in a Christian family romance film now available on DVD and Amazon called God Bless the Broken Road. Some proceeds of the film go to Disabled American Veterans. Check them out for more photos like the one below!

Today is a day American soldiers, sailors, and airmen know well. Many were young volunteers as the United States had not entered WWII yet, learning a trade and seeing the world. We have no statistics on how many later may have committed suicide or thought/ attempted it. That was not a topic discussed. Each war has become a bit more concerned about the aftermath and soldiers and veterans do seek help. Help one such organization , stopsoldiersuicide.org , with a DONATION. We are collecting until midnight December 10.
Don’t forget to post a #FarscapeFriday moment,gif, or photo today on your favorite platform!

Last fandom rant!
So if you haven’t heard OzScape 3 has been cancelled because of lack of sales. Only 17 people bought tickets. Given the passion of the Australian fans when I have attended panels in Perth and Adelaide, as well as watched the videos from Melbourne and Sydney, I am very surprised. I get the uncertain economy everywhere, family obligations, and fear to attend an event where you know no one else. I do not get that people assume the actors “owe” us. These events are work for them. Like us they may have fun as well but I like to be paid for being “on” . My first job was at Disneyland. Their philosophy is that when you are at work you are onstage and performing. This is a life lesson. Many of us have been at cons when the actors no longer want to bother. A few years ago at a Stargate con Michael Shanks got a really weird “what if” question. He sighed, looked down and then said “Have we really reached this point?”. The Farscape actors never disappoint and I had no doubts they would not have let anyone down at this event. Granted Ben is my favorite and I attend cons even if he is the only Farscape guest but I always love the interaction of all of them when a con does group panels which I had hoped to see at this one.
The promoters of various cons everywhere say sales are down. I do believe that, as there are so many cons these days. However there are not many that feature Farscape. Farscape panels are always well attended. Maybe if the show had been streaming on Netflix Australia/NZ it would have helped. So American fans if you want to see Ben at a con, it will have to be a bigger one and you have to let them know! So contact them and make your suggestions — don’t wait for the guests to be announced. Many of us complain about all the fixation on youth and the CW type shows. Well those shows, like Farscape, have fans of all ages and backgrounds. The difference is they are vocal and they buy tickets , very pricey tickets for VIP events at cons around the world.
A fellow Scaper and I have made some of these cons destination vacations. We take time before or after and see the sights. We ask local Scapers for must not miss things that they like. Before starting to attend cons with @vinegardog1 I did attend alone but usually found fellow Scapers or Ben fans from SG1 so never felt alone.
Ok no more whining! π

Ben will be filming a commercial December 15th with director J.T. Mollner. He has done a few over the years , most as a kid and when he had just finished drama school. I asked him about his very first one as I remembered him mentioning doing one in junior high. Ben replied it was in first grade so 1969 or 1970 so this is either the 49th or 48th anniversary of his first! “Math is hard” —per Ben π
So pursuant to yesterday’s rant I heard from KernilCrash and it looks like Terra Firma will remain open until 2020! If you are a newer Farscape fan and have not visited it is a great treasure trove of info, art, and fanfiction. Start a rewatch thread maybe? I am going to try and follow my own advice and participate more but I usually withdraw when someone bashes John Crichton π

Fundraiser Total : $900.64 !! Still time to DONATE !!
I am going to rant like the old lady on the porch shaking her fist at kids and their shenanigans ! Farscape drew an audience of many who had never been involved in “fandom”. It drew those of us who had been in other active ones. When I got my first computer (my Dad helped me build it) in 1993 I logged into my Prodigy account and searched X Files. It started a new adventure. My daughters were 2 and 4 and my husband worked evenings so I had quiet time and found new friends, several of whom I am still friends with to this day. By the time Farscape came along in 1999 I knew how to look for people to discuss my new favorite show. I think the old style bulletin boards made things far better for fandoms than the many platforms of social media we have today. “Like” , “retweet”, and “reblog” buttons have removed the need to actually voice an opinion or add to the discussion. I am guilty of this. Farscape fans made things happen in the day including shutting down the SciFi Channel’s fax machine and overloading the voicemail at the channel’s headquarters. I have attended cons on 3 continents , where I have seen the enthusiasm for Farscape. Ben can pack a room and gets more Farscape questions than SG1 even when he is booked as an SG1 guest. So I know people are out there and many want more adventures. This past August, Brian Henson and Gigi Edgley were on a panel at Dragon Con. Over 600 people (most waited an hour at least) cheered word that Brian was thinking a longer format than a film to continue the story. In the old days the Friday chat would average 200 fans discussing an episode or the show in general. Facebook groups have anywhere from 1500 – 5000 members. Reddit Farscape over 5000. Even accounting for duplication, that is more than the handful that participate. I get it. I get that if it was streaming maybe more people would be reminded of the show that got into their hearts and minds, maybe got them to write fanfic, make videos, or send protest faxes! BUT if I had a dollar for every fan who says well I would donate to a Kickstarter we would have a slick film. Yes money talks but even if money was raised there has to be confidence an audience is interested.So get out there and support Farscape and Ben! Start small and search Farscape or Ben Browder or your Farscape favorite on Twitter or Instagram and like and retweet. Move on to sharing GIFS or favorite videos. Subscribe to Henson’s Farscape youtube page. Trek lives because of it’s fans. X Files got 2 more seasons because it’s fans never stopped talking about it. Every week or so an revival of a show is announced because fans talk about it. End of rant π
A new site, Farscape Continues, has opened in the spirit of the old Kansas /Terrafirma, Karl’s, and Ultimate Farscape so stop by. I am curious if people might respond to that format as for many it will be “new”. I admit I find the view points of streamers often different from those back in the day. Something I attribute to not having a week or in some cases months to digest episodes.

Apparently people are not real interested in a Farscape only con whether it be in Australia or the US. I enjoy cons for the panels and my fellow fans. Panels allow us to hear those that gave life to our favorites discuss the experience and their insights. Ben and the cast of Farscape are proud of their work and convey that with thoughtful answers. Soooo let’s try contacting the larger cons and suggest a Farscape 20th Anniversary panel. Here are a few ways to contact the bigger cons and make guest suggestions :
@CreationEnt
Phoenix Fan Fusion (new owners of Phoenix Comic Con
@FANEXPODallas
@FANEXPOCanada
Dragon Con or @DragonCon
@FedCon
London Film and Comic Con @Showmasters or on Facebook
