I decided a while back to forgo the birthday fundraiser due to the pandemic. I did not lose my job but many have and others are worried about their finances in case these lose their job. So I ask that you support a charity close to your heart and donate what you can. You could do it in honor of Ben’s birthday and share it here if you like. I have chosen Stop Soldier Suicide, the group the auction has supported the last couple of years. Ben will be 58 on December 11th!! He has been keeping close to home doing all the rights things —- getting out in nature when he can and anxious to get back to work.

So many of you are wondering why Ben will not be a part of the SDCC Farscape panel (debuts at 6 pm PT tonight). He was asked be assured. Those of you who attended Dragon Con last year remember him being moved and teasing and laughing with his co-stars who will be on this panel. That is genuine! I asked if there was a reason he was not participating and this is his answer (I do have permission to share!) :
“Farscape was created by a multitude of talented individuals, especially those from Australia. As a remote event, this seemed an ideal moment to hear from those talented people who can’t just drive down from LA to San Diego.”
Great answer and those of you who have attended SDCC know that the panels are moderated, sometimes a few fan questions and often under an hour. Big panels often seem to short as not everyone gets to give input. I love them don’t get me wrong but Ben is right we don’t get to see some of these people at cons often. Gigi Edgely is doing an amazing job bringing Farscape stars from both sides of the camera to her Twich channel . Hopefully when SDCC and Henson see a tremendous response to this panel we can get a huge panel (and announcement!) at SDCC2021!! You may see some snide remarks about actors who don’t do SDCC because they don’t get paid. Usually the real answer is they were not invited or had a genuine conflict, as for other cons again it could be these reasons or the money.

I use this blog as informational mainly, sometimes a venting platform for something I have observed in fandom. I live in a town in a state that was relatively untouched by the pandemic and has had mostly peaceful, positive protests. Mask wearing low , people believe the virus is a hoax. My retirement job is as a pharmacy tech for a large retail store and given I worked in clinical microbiology/virology labs most of my life I wear a mask and stay distanced despite virtually all guidelines relaxed or ignored. However most of my friends around the world are living a different life. Many around me in real life are angry about all the events going on. I was raised the world doesn’t revolve around me which I am guessing is why I am more ambivalent. I was raised to not judge people I didn’t know and to follow the Golden Rule. All this said I don’t feel guilty for taking a break from the news, calling my representatives and working with the public in a spot which is setting new records for positives virus cases. I watch and discuss Farscape or Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries with fans in both fandoms and participate in rewatches. In 2000/2001 the US was in turmoil politically and I was upset with my government. There were injustices being carried out here and around the world. My job and my ex-husband’s (he was a cop now retired) made me fear for my daughters’ lives in a world filled with rapists and pedophiles but trying to teach them to be careful and get to live a “normal” life — every parent’s dilemma. Farscape was my weekly “drug” against reality and discussions with fellow fans truly helped. Twenty years later these same fans and many more and I share conversations on many topics which has made my world so much larger. I love to travel but even if you can’t physically travel you can by your relationships with others around the country and around the world. So take some time every week to check in with fans groups, join a rewatch, search Twitter or tumblr for your interest and join in. Less fattening than a snack or a drink, done on your schedule, and people in quarantine very clever!
I snurched this from the Adventuresses’ Club of the Americas (Miss Fisher fans) news letter and I wholeheartedly agree with it!!!
We also recognize that people need a place of refuge – joyous escapism – to anchor them during uncertain times and to be a reminder of better days to come. Like our beloved heroine, we recognize there is a need for both of these things in our lives.
This is a really difficult time in our history, and a little escapism can be a healing salve, shoring us up for the battles ahead. It’s okay to take a break from outrage, anger, and sorrow to recharge in your happy place. We hope we can be that space for you.
Don’t forget about the opportunities to “see” Ben from Creation — two options!

So the #farscapenow campaign that was launched by comment from Ben in Birmingham,England in 2017 that the time was right for more is having a Tweetstorm. As I have said many times I do understand those who are content with the story as is or are afraid it will not have the magic that first caught them. However many of you want to see new stories with our favorites and what new characters they encounter. Hundreds show up at cons and thousands join social media groups to share your excitement for Farscape. New fans of all ages around the world join the Scaper Army daily. Those of you who want more as Ben does please join us on Tuesday January 28th at 9 pm ET or 2100 GMT. Twitter is the preferred place because it is monitored by those in position to give us more Farscape. Second would be Instagram or public Farscape pages (like farscapenow). The event will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the airing of Family Ties which was the final ep of season 1, cast and crew had no idea if there would be more. It will last one hour. Individual IP addresses matter. Retweet if that is all you are comfortable with. Tweetdeck allows you to schedule your tweets ahead. So put Family Ties or any favorite ep on (preferably using Amazon Prime!!!) and join us!! For those outside these time zones listed pick one and schedule or join whichever works for you. Our fandom is diverse, smart and talented. We saved our show in the old days of fax machines and dial up modems and we can bring it back using Twitter and streaming!! Fans of other old shows can manage so I know we can do it!!

Ben’s film Being is available at some Walmart stores now on DVD and blu ray. I liked it though I am an Xphile and it had that vibe! Pros : Ben’s character, Agent Dickson, had wit and good chemistry with fellow agent Costa, played by Ahd. The cast was solid, the story ambiguous like early XF stand alones and the ending left open for our agents to have other cases. Cons : not enough Ben 😉 Some scenes too dark, which XF managed to do without being quite so pitch black. The idea is to have this possibly be a series. To get me into a series I like to get invested in the characters so reversing the format would be better as the film focus on the POV of the storytellers not the agents. Or maybe more balance between the two storylines.
Farscape fans on Twitter join the Tweetstorm January 28th 9 pm ET/2100 GMT
