Second Ben is joining a stellar Farscape line-up at Dragon Con that includes Gigi Edgley, Rebecca Riggs, Lani Tapu, Anthony Simcoe, Brian Henson and Rockne O’Bannon!! The celebration of the Farscape 20th Anniversary continues in Atlanta!!
***Correction This is Not Confirmed*** Ben may also be joining the costume party at Henson Studios October 19th!!
Then Wintercon in New York City November 23 – 24!! The VIP tickets are sold out but general seating still available!! See Ben, Claudia Black, Gigi Edgely, Anthony Simcoe, Lani Tapu, Virginia Hey and Rockne O’Bannon!!!
So San Diego Comic Con is over and we know Rockne and Brian are as revved up for more Farscape as Ben is!! Here are a few photos courtesy of Musicalgal and Emeraldcity !!
In case you need a push to get you to buy your WinterCon tickets or the Henson Costume Party, some Ben moments from April’s Starfest Denver 2019. Many thanks to @marialflag who attended her first con!! The events that are in the future can be attended—for many get the cheap ticket, find a friend to share a room—if you can’t stay in the host hotel ask Scapers in the host city about lower cost options, use public transportation (likely others from the con doing the same thing!) and budget some money for photos, autographs or other mementos! Cons are in bigger areas usually for the reason they will sell enough tickets to get the guests people want to see and it is easier to get guests and fans there and places for them to stay!! So don’t moan and say you would go if it was in YOUR town!!It was harder when my kids still at home and in college but doable on a small scale — gave me a taste of it and I had great fun!! Eat cheese sandwiches and skip your frappes! You know you want to go 😉
Lots of opportunities to see Ben in person this year in the US. I am sad the Australia con didn’t happen 🙁 Also still pouting I didn’t get SDCC tickets. I was like the Big Bang Theory guys just staring at my laptop in disbelief :p And that was before I knew there would be any Farscape events! I no longer live in soCal so can’t even go down for the outside events!! Ok I am going to put on my big girl panties and give you all the schedule of upcoming events as they stand now :p
July 18 – 20 SDCC Ben will be signing autographs at 10 AM in the Sails Pavillion (remember no charge to have your Official Program signed by ANY guest at SDCC). Also Farscape fans look for Gigi Edgley who will be signing at the same time! *** Ben only signing Friday and Saturday***
July 18 SDCC 3 p.m. Farscape 20th Anniversary Panel 7AB so grab some nibbles after your autograph and get in line 😉 Panel will feature Ben, Gigi Edgley, Brian Henson and Rockne O’Bannon.

I think John Crichton has been a good Dad since we last saw him. The character desired to be one, perhaps because of issues he had with his own father as much as it is just the type of man he is. I think that cemented his decision in the Look at the Princess trilogy to become the consort. Ben’s real children were featured . Below is John with a holographic projection of his daughter :
As John’s relationship with Aeryn continues to grow and she welcomes a future with him, something he is teaching her is possible. One of the most beautiful things and one that sets it apart in many ways is the weaving of this dynamic boldly into the “A” story line. Rare in scifi. Kudos go out to the producers and writers for sticking to their guns on this issue showing monogamy doesn’t have to be boring or without passion. At the 2001 San Diego Comic Con , creator Rockne O’Bannon gave a glorious defense of this. The crowd was already on board 😀 Largely I think because it was just part of the story and not just brought out during Sweeps week as a gimmick. The Save Farscape campaign which along with the never give up attitude of Brian Henson resulted in The Peacekeeper Wars mini series as a gift to the fans and we see John’s newborn son used to bring him out of a coma. Aeryn had watched one John die and was not letting a second waste away. This moment brought tears to me as one could imagine the feelings of both of the joy tempered with the fear of the future world they had brought their child into. A feeling shared by most new parents.
At the time the last episodes aired Ben was the only Moyan to have children (not counting Moya herself!). Since then many children have been born to various cast members and all seem to have taken to parenthood! Below is Ben with his daughter who works in television production at the Saturn Awards. In case any fans still unaware he is married to actress Francesca Buller know to Farscape fans as M’Lee, ro-Na, Raxil, and Minister Ahkna.
Personal note I think being a good Dad is a trait that adds to a man’s attractiveness, I still find it makes my ex worthy of regard!
The above photo was from the end of the first Farscape Convention in 2000. This group plus a few others would be my personal dream 20th Anniversary Con! Not happening though a few opportunities ahead this year. Ben is scheduled so far to appear at the following :

Awesome Mixer Vol. 2 : July 19,2019 an outside SDCC event (SDCC ticket NOT required) 8 PM – 2 AM
So a roundup of sorts from Ben’s appearance at StarfestDenver. A great little con in the sense that it mixes real science and scifi. At the Meet and Greet on Friday night you had astrophysicists, artists, and actors rotating table to table. At our table and at least one other he was asked about what he was doing. He just lost out on a guestie role on The Orville and a couple of others. One was as a dad of older teens and he was told he looked too young! He told them his kids were in their 20s! So he went home and tried to see what the actors that had been chosen were doing that he wasn’t. Beards with gray was the answer! At the con the next day he was asked about future of Farscape. He is hesitant until anything is set. Brian Henson wants to do more Farscape in Australia. Rockne O’Bannon is actively working on Farscape stories. They are looking at a story that would include characters going back 20 years which got a great reaction from the crowd. Asked what his favorite project of his career and why. He said Farscape, for many reasons including that he got to write for it as well so it has some of his weirdness in it. He praised SciFi Channel for their courage in allowing it to ever be made. He said the total collaboration of all the crew. Also to all the scifi that preceded it. He then related the story of his Thunderbird experience while filming SG1. He told the Air Force — anything you want from me is yours! He didn’t expect the to take his son! There were many USAF personnel active and retired at the con as it is close to Colorado Springs home of the Academy where Ben’s son will graduate from next month so this comment was well received! He discussed Hollywood foibles a bit. The panel was about 45 minutes long. He also mentioned a Creation Farscape 20th Anniversary Con , initially he said November but then later clarified it as September of October. However there is nothing on their site. He thinks they must be finalizing details — so keep your eyes peeled! There were many Farscape cosplayers which had him grinning each time one approached! His son was with him at his table for his final signing Sunday and he told a fan he knew was friends with me to get me over there to meet him. He was rolling with the whole thing and razzing his Dad a bit as well! I took many stalker photos of him signing ( this con had no rules against this) and below are a few!
This was one of my favorite cons. Ben and Claudia Black gave us a few hours of their memories, laughter and serious thoughts reflecting on their Farscape experiences. It was just a few months after PKW had aired. I recently shared with Ben how much fun it was reliving the joys and sorrows with new fans. Also how bad it was that some didn’t like all the joking about the passion he and Claudia Black created with John and Aeryn. Back in the day we all made these jokes about being jealous of working with someone so “hot”. There were threads and whole groups devoted to the J/A relationship. Francesca Buller at her first con mentioned how lucky actors were to get that chemistry with a co-star as it made many scenes work better. She also said she loved the J/A relationship. Fans enjoying this is not an attack on the actor’s talent, personal morals or anything else. Very few fans have the inability to distinguish real life from fiction. I asked Ben if it offended him when fans had fun with J/A and all that surrounds it. This was his response : “Gosh no I’m not offended. Never have been.” If you haven’t watched the videos of them together at cons I recommend it. I am biased because John is my favorite character and to me John becomes “more” as a result of Aeryn and the others but mostly her. Ben conveys this when John is twinned , making Moya John less decisive, walks different and many other subtle things. So shippers rejoice and continue to discuss what is to me rare on television scifi, an adult relationship, not just in scifi but much of television drama that is not just a plot device dusted off when needed. A relationship that was supported not just by writers and producers but by the actors themselves. Ben was assigned to write Green Eyed Monster because he kept bugging David Kemper about when were John and Aeryn going to get together. Kemper replied write it.

Henson is really pushing for big numbers which gives me hope for more adventures hopefully starring Ben!
