It is that time of year again! Time to start the fundraiser for Ben’s birthday! I chose the Breast Cancer Research Foundation again. As it will be Ben’s 50th I set the bar high at $5000. I am going to try a couple of auctions.While in London I had Ben sign a photo from his upcoming Dr. Who ep and he included one of his lines from the show. I will post the link to the page on 1 September from Dragon Con. If you are attending Dragon Con contact me via @Action_John on Twitter or email if you want to be D*C “friends” on the app. There will be alot of Farscape fans many first timers as well as the Gaters whom Ben has charmed as well. I will be carrying the donation cup with me if you want to make a cash donation which will show up as “Dragon Con” on the donor roll. The minimum again seems to be $25 which funds 1/2 hour of research. This is high so you can share with another fan or contact me about other options. Also we will run the campaign from 1 September until 10 December.

I am fixing/compressing the video and hopefully will have it up today sometime.
On the topic of what people like at cons I will say when Ben does photo-ops/autographs I do want him to be the most popular! He was up there at this con and I don’t think it is just because he doesn’t do alot of events in the UK. Several people I spoke to bought the photo-op ticket after the autograph because Ben was so nice. We win!

I am back home after a great vacation in London. I prefer hearing the actor’s talk and photo op/autographs second. Ben is great on stage yet I understand the financial draw of the second. I am surprised at the fans who rate the autograph time highest. I guess I am cynical—even Ben who is very gracious can’t remember every person! Many people I spoke to assumed San Diego Comic Con means photo ops/autographs with all the guests. It is more marketing products than fan interaction. There are signings etc but nothing like at the smaller comic cons. The talk at the LFCC gave us new info such as Ben attended London Central School of Speech and Drama with Chris Eccleston, the 9th Doctor (and my modern favorite).

Finally got my con video u/l! I like to to see the entire talk at once so it is a big file! I had forgotten to load my video software on my new laptop so when I get back to the US I will condense it more.
